“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

When you hear the word “comfort” what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Most of the time that word is used when someone has lost a loved one, job or possessions. “We pray that your heart will be comforted.” Or “May G-d comfort your hearts during this time of sorrow.”

COMFORT is also used to comfort those who feel fear, rejection, downcast, unloved, unappreciated, discouraged, depressed and the list goes on.

What do you do when there is no comfort from people. No comfort from your loved ones. Those who are close to you and you expect them to comfort you with words or just a loving hug. Well, my friend, these are the times when you can lean on the L-RD. Our Heavenly Father is the G-d of ALL comfort.

The scripture says, “who comforts us in all our troubles”. It doesn’t matter what you are going through or how lonely you may feel right now. G-d Sees and He Knows and He will comfort you.

How? How will G-d comfort me? I’m glad you asked. Through several channels but the ones you can count on for sure is G-d the Father, G-d the Son (the L-RD Jesus) and G-d the Holy Spirit. They will never let you down.

People need comforting when they suffer. Suffering is hard, not pleasant and uncomfortable. It leaves you feeling vulnerable and sad, lonely and unappreciative. The L-RD Jesus can lift you up out of those hard places and comfort you through His Holy Word. Sometimes you just want a human hug. I believe that’s why so many people have pets. They love you with their eyes and mannerism. And then there are those who suffer for the cause of Jesus Christ. Prayer, songs and an unwavering faith in G-d brings about a trust believing G-d will bring comfort. The Apostle Paul experienced great suffering, persecution and opposition in his ministry. There are others who also suffered for their beliefs throughout the Old and New Testament. We read how G-d brought comfort and either made ways of escape or sent words of comfort through the prophets.

Here are a few scriptures that you can mediate upon and ponder as our Heavenly Father comforts you. Let these verses be an encouragement and comfort to you. They will give you strength, love and peace.

⚫ Isaiah 41:13 ⚫ Proverbs 3:5-6

⚫ Psalm 23:4 ⚫ Matthew 11:28-30

⚫ Psalm 34:18 ⚫ John 14:27

And don’t forget about Prayer. Prayers can go where no one else can go. The L-RD Jesus can comfort your heart through prayer and will rejuvenate you and give you Joy. He will give you strength for the journey while you are in the valley. Will you still suffer at the hands of people and circumstances? Yes, but knowing we have an advocate with the Father and are able to come to Him at all times, day or night, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year is very comforting.
